Volunteering at the Ministry

Heartside Ministry welcomes volunteers. Volunteers gain the chance to meet and learn from the Neighbors of the Heartside Community, to see the world from a different perspective, to live out their commitment to act on behalf of the common good. Volunteers learn and grow through experience, conversation, reflection and observation. For those who have not known poverty, homelessness, or the disadvantage of discrimination, it is the ministry’s hope that these social ills are given a face at Heartside. We exist to affirm that all persons bear God’s image, and we believe that in learning to truly meet the stranger as thy neighbor, the familiar words “God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven” grows into an active affirmation instead of a passive hope.
