Women's Empowerment Group
Facilitated by Marlene Kemp (the ministry's receptionist and hospitality coordinator) the Women's Group at Heartside Ministry meets weekly to explore issues that impact women (specifically women living in the Heartside neighborhood), build community and grow problem solving skills. The women work through topics such as listening, respect, etc. as they relate to their own their interpersonal interactions and sense of self. They discuss how these issues effect their past & present and how they hope to have grown in the future (i.e. capitalizing on their successes and learning from difficulties). They continue to build on the relationships they developed in the group meetings, throughout the week, celebrating achievement & progress and maintaining accountability among members. Through the group, healthy community is fostered in the Heartside neighborhood, in general and specifically among members.
